LÉON EVANGELION

Marie Léon aka Léon Evangelion is a Parisian artist with multiple hats: singer, producer, illustrator, plastic artist, tattooer and soccer player. She wrote her first songs during her studies at the Fine Arts Institute of Paris and quotes downtempo and ambient influences such as Shlohmo or Harold Budd.
Long time collaborator of BMM Records, she has already made several visual creations for the label such as the animated video EP L’Ascenseur by Cotchei and NCY Milky Band, released in 2016, or the music video for M.A BEAT!’s song Julie back in 2019.
Some of her inspiration comes from cartoons and anime. Her moniker is for example a direct reference to the dystopian sci-fi series Neon Genesis Evangelion. Same for her debut single Velvet with NCY Milky Band, released in 2020 on the BMM Records Vol. 1 compilation, that was inspired by cartoon character Jessica Rabbit.
Her music has a delicate and silky atmosphere, in which she explores new forms of pop music, closer to downtempo music or ambient. Through her lyrics, the singer transcribes her dreams and emotions with poetry and lyricism. Her music also reflects her plastic art, that she reinvests in her video productions like the costumes, jewelry and ceramic accessories that she created for the music video Sad Doll.
