THE BROTHERS NYLON

Mike and Nick Rufolo are two twin brothers ailing from Long Island, NY, now based in Melbourne Beach, FL. Under their moniker The Brothers Nylon, they have released about 30 albums since 2013, a pace that is hard to keep up and making their discography already hard to dig into easily, yet contains many gems including collaborations with Shawn Lee and Georgia Anne Muldrow.

The Nylon bros are playing around with all kinds of instruments and analogue equipment. Mike plays the drums and handles recording and production, while Nick plays every other instrument, which are overdubbed one by one to create rich musical pieces. Their creativity knows no limitations and allows for lofi beats as well as cinematic funk & soul breaks, library music, progressive rock and Zappa-esque adventures. They forge an undeniably old school sound with the heavy use of tape machine hiss and vintage gear such as their iconic Tascam 388 console.

They gained success and visibility from their YouTube channel, where they regularly post new live sessions, sometimes more than twice a week.

The Golden Bagels compilation released in 2016 was curated by BMM founders Louis and Joseph to represent their enthusiasm, energy and willingness to experiment with the sounds. As they say: ”If it makes sound, it’s for twins”.

In 2022, we’ve released a sequel on 12” vinyl titled Lofi Sauce, gathering 16 lesser-known singles inspired by lofi hip-hop YouTube channels, a sound they tried to recreate with a more analog instrumentation and production.
